Our home in California

Here are a few pics of our home here in California. Our housing stuff will be delivered tomorrow so once I get everything all decorated and set up, I will take more pics and post them. Enjoy!

 

Our grass is much greener now since we have moved in and been watering it. This is just what it looked like when we moved in.

We're in California!!!!

So, we made it here to California on September 30th. Our first view of the place was hard to tell because we got in so late that night..... Since then, we have rented a car and ventured around the area some and we think we are really going to like it here. We are currently staying in billeting but we have found us a 3br 2ba house with a fenced in yard for the dog. We put up a deposit on the house but are waiting to improcess with housing before we can move in it. I am so excited! The area around base doesn't seem to be as horrible as people told me it was. Right now fall is in the air and it feels great..no humidity!! Our skin has dried out since we have been here so we have to keep lotion and chapstick on and I have to use a lot of eye drops to keep my contacts moisturized...other than that, it's great!

On our way to California we had a layover in Chicago for a few hours..it wasn't enough time to leave the airport and look around so I snapped a few pics from the plane.

We bought our plane tickets last night..we will be heading to California on September 30th. I am so excited. I am ready to get there and find a place to live. As of right now, we have a few houses that we are looking at..we are gonna call about them when we get there to set up an appt to look at them. We are so happy to be living back in the states...It's like a big weight has been lifted off our shoulders.

So with that said, we have a week left here with our families..I have enjoyed seeing them and hanging out with them. All the kids are getting so big and Max likes playing with them. Once I get all my pictures uploaded, I will post them. Until next time...

We're home in Georgia!!!

We're home!!! LOL! Thursday morning we woke up at 430am to get ready to go to the airport at 6am. When we got to the airport and checked in and got our tickets, they told us they would call for Max at about 7:40. Our plane was supposed to take off at 9am that morning. We sit and sit and wait and wait. Finally we get tired of waiting so we go and ask the people at the info desk what's going on?? Well, come to find out, our plane was delayed 3 hours bc we were waiting on the plane bringing the guys back from the desert. Luckily our friend was on that flight coming in so we got to welcome him home before we got outta there. We didn't end up taking off till about 12:30pm. While we were in the process of taking off the pilot says by the way, we are having a layover in Iceland bc we need to fuel up. We were all pissed about that bc we were just ready to get home. So when we land in Iceland, we have sit on the plane while they fuel up for an hour bc we wasn't allowed to get off due to a fire drill at the airport. So, to make a long story short...what was supposed to be a 9 hour flight turned into 12 hours plus to terrible turbulance we had the whole flight. Yuck!! When we landed in Baltimore, we had the USO welcome us home which was awesome..it made me teary eyed!! Finally it's time to go pick Max up..when we get him, he had puked all over himself and his kennel. He was so dehydrated and covered in puke. I felt so sorry for him. I let him run around outside while Harry rented us a car. We got on the road at about 8pm Thursday night and made it to Lakeland at 8am Friday morning. So now we are here and Max is having a blast running around with the kids and other 2 dogs. Hopefully our flight to California in a few weeks will go smoother. Until next time...Peace!!

What We Decided...

We have finally came to a decision about what we are going to do about our leave enroute home. We fly out on the 10th to BWI, then we are going to rent a car and drive home from there. Yeah, I know it's a long way but it will be fun. There was too much stress with this heat embargo and trying to get Max(outr dog) on a flight without the temperature going over 75 degrees. That is almost impossible in the states during the summer months. Plus the fact that we had to find a non-stop flight the same times as Max so we would be able to pick him up on time. So many rules just to fly a dog. Renting a car and driving makes it much less stressful and it will be an adventure for us. I am sure Max will love hanging his head out the window all the way home. heheheh!!! We did buy us a GPS today so we wouldn't get lost along the way. I am very excited seeing my family and Harry seeing his family. We haven't all been together is so long.

On another note, we are currently staying with friends until the 5th when we go on base to the hotel there. We are gonna turn our house keys in this Monday and get the landlady to do a final walk thru. After that, we are rent free for a while. Living out of a suitcase sucks though. Plus, I over packed us big time so we are gonna have to mail stuff back. Harry has only one suitcase to my three. What can I say, I am a woman...I need lots of stuff. hehe. Well, I think that is pretty much all I have for you guys now.

I'm Blessed

I am proud to say that I am blessed with great friends. A really good friend of mine just made my day, She bought me a Twilight fleece blanket and I absolutely LOVE it !! I can't wait to snuggle with it tonight LOL!! Thanks Nicki..you are a great friend and I am going to miss you!

a little update...

I finally have the hang of how this blog thing works so get ready for millions of posts. Okay, now for the updates..This week we are going to be really busy and not able to be online much. Thursday TMO comes to pick up all our stuff so we got to get packing last minute things and cleaning..tons of cleaning! Friday, unaccompanied comes to get our clothes and dishes..the stuff we will need right away when we get to California. After all that, we have to clean the house and turn over the keys to the landlady. We will be in a hotel from then until Sept 10th when we fly out. We don't have any going away parties or get togethers planned so we will just play it by ear. I don't want anything big anyhow. I am so excited and can't believe this is really happening!!

On another note, Congrats to my hubby for making SSgt on the 1st try. Love you boo!

Family Blog

So, I decided to start a blog to keep our family and friends updated on whats going on in our life. It's much easier to do this blog than to try and keep both MySpace and Facebook updated all the time. Plus I know some of you don't have a MySpace or Facebook.
